Weekly Parshah Reflections – Vayigash

In this week’s torah portion of “Vayigash”, we find Jacob getting ready to head out from Be’er Sheva and travel to Egypt to reunite with his son, Joseph. Before he begins this journey with his whole family (all together they are 70) he send Judah ahead first. Some commentators say it was to establish a school for the children as their first act in their new home.

Welcome to the “Raising Holy Sparks” podcast! Hope you enjoy these short weekly insights into the torah portion! This week we dive deep into the Parshah of Vayigash.

Sources mentioned in connection with this week’s torah portion:

  • Genesis 46:28 – “Jacob sent Judah before him to Joseph, to show the way before him to Goshen.
  • Rashi on 46:28 – “[Jacob sent Judah ahead in order for him] to establish a House of Study from which Teaching might go forth.”

Thanks for listening and looking forward to being on this journey through the books of the Torah with you!
