Weekly Parshah Reflections – Bo

In this week’s torah portion of Bo we find the final 3 of the 10 plagues against the Egyptians. We also find the very first commandment given to the Israelites – that they must mark each new moon, Rosh Chodesh. Time, more than space, is the focus of sanctification in Judaism.

Welcome to the “Raising Holy Sparks” podcast! Hope you enjoy these short weekly insights into the torah portion! This week we dive deep into the Parshah of Bo.

Sources mentioned in connection with this week’s torah portion:

  • Exodus 12:2 – “This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you.”
  • Ahad Ha’am: “More than the Jews have kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept the Jews.”
  • Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel: Shabbat is a palace in time.

Thanks for listening and looking forward to being on this journey through the books of the Torah with you!
